The Jewish Society for the Encouragement of the Plastic Arts
האגודה היהודית לעידוד האמנויות הפלסטיות

The Jewish Society for the Encouragement of the Plastic Arts was founded in 1915 by a group of artists, public figures, philanthropists and famous representatives of Russian intellectuals of Jewish origin, including Marc Chagall, El Lissitzky, Nathan Altman, Boris Anisfeld, Isaak Brodsky and others, for educational purposes, publishing, exhibitions and other cultural activities.

A hundred years later, in 2018, the society was reestablished, this time – in the state of Israel, by a group of cultural and public figures who had made “aliya” from the former Soviet Union willing to continue the work started by their predecessors.

The purpose of our Society is promotion and development of plastic arts, such as painting, sculpture, photography etc. created by Jewish artists from all over the world.

Our mission is to
“express the national self-consciousness through artistic forms that resonate with the spirit of our time”.

To achieve these goals, a non-profit organization was registered in Israel.

Our agenda:

  • organization of international exhibitions, festivals, competitions, plein air workshops etc. in order to promote Jewish art, culture and tradition;
  • publication of monographs, albums and studies on Jewish art;
  • organization of lectures, seminars and other educational activities; - support and development of the web portal ArtPark.gallery;
  • setting up a gallery in Tel Aviv to house the society’s activities;
  • foundation of the Museum of Jewish Plastic Arts of the ХХ-XXI centuries in Israel.
We will be glad to cooperate with everyone who shares our statutory goals!
