oris Tselni c ker was born in 1952 in Chisinau (Moldova) in a family of doctors.
He
graduated from the Chisinau Agricultural Institute with a diploma of a H ydraulic
E ngineer. After that, he served in the army
Retired from
the military service , Tselnicker studied topography and did field
research . He took part in numerous geological and geophysical expeditions in
Moldova Siberia and the Russian Far East
He started making sculptures in 1981
using ceramics and bones like sperm whale
tooth , ivory from walr us and mammoth, deer horn and ornamental stone , which he
brought from the Russian Far East.
In 1983
1987 he studied History of Arts in the Ural s State University in the city of
Ekaterinburg . Subject of his graduation paper was the peculiarities of the Mo ldavian
roadside and tombstone crucifix folk sculpture.
In the 1980s,
Boris took part in 15 regional, national and international exhibitions
staged in Chisinau , Odessa and Moscow.
In 1990 the family moved to Israel. Since then, Boris Tselni c ker particip ated in
more than forty group and solo art exhibitions in Israel, UK, USA, Russia, Great
Britain, and Czech Republic.
Many bone miniatures were purchased by
the Mold a vian Museum of History of
Religions (now Moldavian History Museum), the USSR Ministry o f Culture , the
Russian Museum of Ethnography in St. Petersburg, as well as by p rivate galleries like
"Mars" in Moscow and various private collectors i n Israel, Europe, America, and
Australia.
In 1992, Tselnicker won the first prize at the Montana Miniature Art Exhibition in the
United States for his sculpture “Rolling th r ough the Life”.
Boris is the author of more than 1
500 sculptures , dolls, mosaic s and jewelry works in
bone, bronze, silver, iron, ceramics, as well as of numerous graphic works . He is also
